You will receive 1 (0ne) Set of Palo Santo Wood Runes which contains 25pc Elder Futhark Runes made from reclaimed Palo Santo wood from Peru and hot stamped. Since these are taken from scraps of wood which have naturally fallen and could not be used for sticks, the individual runes vary slightly in size and shape. Included is a burlap drawstring storage pouch as well.
Palo Santo trees in Peru are protected by regulations and have to be harvested in a sustainable way. Only dead tress and fallen branches can be harvested. Pesticide free.
The Elder Futhark or Germanic Futhark is the oldest form of the runic alphabet. It was a writing system used by Germanic tribes for Northwest Germanic dialects in the Migration Period, the dates of which are debated among scholars. Runic inscriptions are found on artifacts, including jewelry, amulets, tools, weapons, and, of course, runestones, from the 2nd to the 8th centuries.
The Elder Futhark (named after the initial phoneme of the first six rune names: F, U, Þ, A, R, and K) has 24 runes, often arranged in three groups of eight runes.
